Pamela Smith

Criminal Lawyer

Overview And Experience

Pam received her call to the Bar in 1981 and has been practicing exclusively criminal law since that time.  Her focus on criminal law is based on the fact that she feels that she is able to help people who need it.  Pam has always been willing to take Legal Aid cases as she feels that the system can only work if everyone is entitled to experienced counsel. Pam has always carried on her practice as senior partner in relatively small firms.  She feels that a small firm comprised solely of criminal lawyers gives everyone an opportunity to bounce ideas off of each other and discuss files to determine the best possible approach and solution. A key component of providing excellent service to clients is to keep up on the law.  For that reason she attends the Federation of Law Societies National Criminal Law Program every year.  It is a one-week program that focuses on the latest advances in criminal law. While Pam prefers to deal with clients’ matters in the Provincial Court of Manitoba, she has appeared in all levels of Court including the Court of Queen’s Bench of Manitoba, the Manitoba Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada.  She is a past board member of Big Sisters of Winnipeg, St. John’s Ravenscourt School, the St. Boniface Hospital & Research Foundation, and the Manitoba Club.
